But now, this is what the Lord says— he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. (Isaiah 43:1)
Fear is a common emotion. While some of us might have a fear of spiders, dogs or heights, the reality is that our fear mostly comes from not having certainty... from not knowing what's going to happen in the future.
This verse from the prophet Isaiah tells us that we are known by God. He knows us personally. What we're like, what we've done, our strengths and weaknesses and even what we're going to do. He calls us His. Through Christ, we belong to Him. We are His children. We are precious to Him. He cares for us and loves us. He loves us so much that He sent Jesus to us, to carry our sins to the cross. Jesus bridged the gap between us and God and now allows us to be right with the one true and living God.
Through and in Christ we have no fear. We have been redeemed and been put right with God. Our relationship has been put in place by the redemptive power and love of Jesus. Our sins have been forgiven and we have been set free from sin's hold and our guilt.
We have security in our future and our final destination. Fear has been beaten by the love and light of Christ... forever.
